Qatar's Foreign Minister Mohammed bin Abdul Rahman Al Thani will leave for Russia today (Sunday) to discuss the Iranian issue with his counterpart, Bloomberg News-Analytics reported.
According to the report, Al Thani is scheduled to hold talks with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov on the Vienna talks, which have been stalled for several days, and according to an informed source, a meeting may take place. Also with Russian President Vladimir Putin in this regard.
Bloomberg says the meeting comes as Qatar seeks to revive Vienna talks on lifting US unilateral sanctions against the Islamic Republic.
Al-Thani also reportedly had separate telephone conversations with US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken and Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian on Saturday, but the State Department did not respond to Bloomberg's request for comment.
