Tuesday, 8 March 2022 (YJC)_ A high-level Palestinian delegation met with the Egyptian Foreign Minister during a visit to Cairo to discuss developments in Palestine.
Ziad Abu Amr, Deputy Prime Minister and member of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), and Ahmed Majdlani, Minister of Social Development and member of the Executive Committee of the PLO, met with Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shukri.
Ahmed Hafez, the official spokesman for the Egyptian Foreign Ministry, said that the Palestinian delegation briefed Shukri on the latest developments in Palestine and the problems and challenges facing the Palestinian people. The Palestinian delegation also appreciated Egypt's role in upholding the Palestinian cause and the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, as well as Egypt's efforts to provide the necessary assistance to Palestine in achieving Palestinian national reconciliation.
According to the Al-Yawm Al-Sabeeh website, the Egyptian Foreign Ministry spokesman also said:
During the meeting, Shukri stressed the need for Egypt to continue its efforts to support the Palestinians, especially in rebuilding the Gaza Strip.
He also stressed Egypt's support for the Palestinian people's demands for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state within the 1967 borders in accordance with international law.
Contacts in this regard with various regional and international parties are ongoing with the aim of reviving the Palestinian-Israeli negotiation process as soon as possible.
