The United States and Poland are considering a plan to supply Ukraine with fighter jets.
Four US officials told Politico that the two countries were in talks to allow Poland to hand over its MiG-29 fighter jets to Ukraine in exchange for US aircraft.
A White House spokesman told Politico:
We are in talks with the Poles on this issue and will continue to consult with our other NATO allies.
The US official also stressed that the government has not opposed the transfer of Polish aircraft to Ukraine.
A White House spokesman also stressed that the transfer of US F-16s to Poland would be difficult and would take a long time to obtain a permit.
