EU foreign policy chief Joseph Borrell spoke by telephone today (Friday) with Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian.
The latest results of the Vienna talks on lifting sanctions were discussed during the phone call.
This is the second phone call between Amir-Abdollahian and Borrell in the past few days. The Iranian Foreign Minister and the EU foreign policy chief also discussed the ongoing talks in Vienna over the phone on February 28th. in a telephone conversation with the EU foreign policy chief, stated that we are looking for a good agreement, but in the framework of national interests and in compliance with our red lines in the negotiations.
Burrell said in a telephone interview:
In our opinion, the main requests of the Islamic Republic of Iran have been considered in the previous agreement. As the coordinator of the Iran-P4 + 1 talks, we would like to say that the dialogue is on the path to progress and reaching a final result.
Amir-Abdollahian thanked the efforts of the EU High Coordinator in the Vienna talks and noted:
We are ready to finalize a good and immediate agreement. But the haste of the western side can not prevent the observance of Iran's red lines.
Welcoming the finalization of the agreement as soon as possible, our Foreign Minister added:
The presence of the foreign ministers in Vienna and the announcement of the final agreement are subject to full compliance with the red lines announced by Iran, including the issue of effective economic guarantees.
Amir-Abdollahian also emphasized:
Dr. Bagheri and the senior experts of the Islamic Republic of Iran remain in Vienna in constant and active consultation with all delegations. The Iranian delegation will continue to work hard to reach a final and good agreement.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran added:
