Friday, 4 March 2022 (YJC)_ The US Secretary of State claimed that NATO's military alliance is not seeking war but will defend its territory.
US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said on Friday that NATO was not looking for a deal with Russia but was ready for it.
According to Reuters, on the eve of the meeting with the foreign ministers of NATO member states, Blinken said:
Our alliance is defensive. We are not looking for conflict.
The US Secretary of State added:
But if the conflict escalates, we will be ready for it and we will defend every inch of NATO territory.
He continued:
At midnight we saw reports of an attack on the [Ukraine] nuclear power plant. This incident shows the level of negligence in this war and the importance of ending it and withdrawing Russian forces and engaging in a diplomatic effort in good faith.
NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg also claimed that Russia had destroyed peace in Europe and started a war ahead of a meeting of foreign ministers of the alliance, without mentioning NATO's moves to escalate tensions in Eastern Europe, especially Ukraine. We have not seen it since World War II to create new realities in continental Europe.
The NATO Secretary General also addressed the Moscow officials:
We call on Vladimir Putin to withdraw his troops from Ukraine immediately and start the diplomatic process.
