Wednesday, 2 March 2022 (YJC)_ The head of Ukraine's National Defense and Security Council has claimed that a Chechen commando squad trying to assassinate the country's president was destroyed by Ukrainian forces.
A Ukrainian government security official has claimed that Chechen commandos's operations to assassinate President Volodymyr Zelenskyy were foiled.
According to Yahoo News, Ukrainian Defense and Security Council Chairman Oleksiy Danilov said in an interview that Ukrainian forces destroyed two Chechen death squads on Tuesday.
According to the Ukrainian official, the Ukrainian forces received information about the plan to attack Zelensky and destroyed one of these Chechen military units, and the second team is under surveillance.
Danilov claimed that sources in the Russian Federal Security Service (AFSB) had revealed the intention of the two Chechen commandos to assassinate the Ukrainian president.
Zelenskyy claimed in a televised message a few days ago that he believed Russian forces had designated him as "the number one target."
