"Syria's permanent representative to the United Nations, Bassam Sabbagh, told a Security Council meeting on Monday:
Serious flaws and fraud in the reports of the fact-finding mission of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons in Syria have tarnished the image of this organization.
According to Russia Today, Sabbagh added:
Previous information from Washington on the findings of this panel confirms the involvement of Western countries in its work to exert political pressure.
He said:
It is necessary for the technical secretariat of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons to work professionally and to refrain from using incomplete and inaccurate information, which is used by hostile countries as a pretext for making false accusations against Syria.
The Syrian Permanent Representative to the United Nations reiterated his country's complete opposition to the use of chemical weapons by anyone, at any time, any place and under any circumstances.
Syria cooperates positively with the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons and hopes that the work process of this organization will be improved and return to its technical nature.
He emphasized:
Syria supports the Security Council's commitment to Resolution 1540 to end the use of chemical and other weapons of mass destruction by terrorists and looks forward to its more effective implementation.
