Saturday, 26 February 2022 (YJC)_ A State Department spokesman told a news conference that he hoped the Russian attack on Ukraine would not be a green light for Iran to develop nuclear weapons.
A White House spokesman said it was not in the US interest to go to war with Russia and therefore would not send troops to Ukraine.
He added:
The impact of sanctions on Russia's financial and economic system will be enormous.
A White House spokesman added:
US President Joe Biden is still ready to meet with the Russian president, but now is not the time.
He said:
We do not want to harm Russia or its people, we just want to put pressure on the system and the financial sector of this country because of Putin's actions.
