White House: We have no intention of sending troops to fight in UkraineWhite House spokeswoman Jennifer Saki said Thursday morning that the United States had no plans to send troops to fight alongside Ukrainian forces in a possible war with Russia.

Saki explained during a press conference at the White House:
There are no safe financial institutions in Russia, and we can extend the sanctions to other institutions.

Asked about Washington's assistance to Kiev in the event of a Russian invasion, he was quoted as saying by US media.
President Joe Biden has no plans to send troops to fight in Ukraine.

A White House spokesman continued:
Our focus is on preventing war, not game politics. We will not go to war with Russia, nor will we send troops to fight in Ukraine, but we will take other measures.

Referring to US sanctions on Russia, Saki said:
[Vladimir] Putin [President of Russia] has corrected some of his actions in response to the decisions we have made, and we are watching him closely.

Accordingly, he added:
If Russia creates tensions, we will take more drastic steps. Some of the actions we have taken are part of our efforts to prevent war, and we are not doing it alone.

The US official also spoke about Biden's possible meeting with Putin:
We are not thinking of meeting with President Putin at this time.
