Some Israeli media outlets have claimed that Ramallah is currently going through tense days and that the dispute over the replacement of 86-year-old Mahmoud Abbas, the head of the Palestinian Authority, is nearing completion.
According to the media, Ramallah witnessed secret meetings a few weeks ago, all of which pursued a common goal of appointing a successor to Abbas. In particular, the number of names nominated to replace Abbas is really small and limited to a number of Fatah leaders, including Majid Faraj, director of the public intelligence service, and Hussein al-Sheikh, the minister of civil affairs.
According to Al-Quds Al-Arabi newspaper, the Zionist media reported a few days ago that the government of US President Joe Biden had given Abbas two years to transfer power in the PA.
The Israeli orientalist Yoni bin Manahim, quoting some high-ranking sources in the Fatah movement, said:
During this period, the Biden government will never pressure Abbas to hold elections in the West Bank and Gaza Strip in order to prevent any political conflict and strengthen the power of the Hamas movement.
The Zionist media claims that a member of the executive committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) has denied any plans to appoint a successor to Abbas.
The next president will never ride on an Israeli tank, but will be elected through ballot boxes.
