Monday, 21 February 2022 (YJC)_ A Kremlin spokesman said a meeting between the Russian and US leaders would take place if necessary, but that it was not time to talk about it.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Monday that a meeting between the presidents of Russia and the United States would be possible if necessary.
According to Sputnik, Peskov told reporters:
If the leaders of the two countries deem it necessary, it will be possible. There is now a clear and decisive understanding that dialogue should take place at the level of the two countries' foreign ministers.
AFP quoted the Russian official as saying that the time had not come for a meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and his American counterpart Joe Biden.
A spokesman for the Russian president said:
It is not time to talk about any program, especially for organizing such meetings, there is no definite plan for it.
On Sunday night, a White House official told the New York Times that the meeting between Biden and Putin would definitely take place after the meeting between the Russian and US foreign ministers in the next few days.
