Monday, 21 February 2022 (YJC)_ The Chief of General Staff of the Armed Forces announced the mission of the army to help the border guards to defend the eastern mosques of the country.
Maj. Gen. Mohammad Bagheri, Chief of General Staff of the Armed Forces, visited the operational units of the 158th Mobile Offensive Brigade of the Army and the Border Guard Unit of the Disciplinary Command located in the southeastern borders of the country.
During the visit, Major General Bagheri, while assessing the combat capability of the units of the 158th Attack Mobile Brigade, assessed the process of guarding, securing and monitoring the southeastern borders of the country by the Army ground units.
On the sidelines of the visit, General Bagheri told reporters:
The eastern borders of the country are in a very sensitive situation and especially the common borders with Afghanistan need extra security and peace.
He added:
Accordingly, in addition to the border guard unit of the police force, which is responsible for deployment at checkpoints and border strip security, the Army of the Islamic Republic of Iran has been instructed to deploy units in support of the country's border, with the help of their comrades in the border unit. Let them come so that we can have a multi-layered and secure defense and security in this area.
General Bagheri clarified:
During the visit that took place today in the borders of Zabul city and its surroundings, we came to the presence of the 158th Zulfiqar Brigade, which witnessed the proper preparation and deployment of our comrades in this border area and observed that, thank God, complete peace and tranquility has been established in the eastern region. God willing, this security will remain stable.
Major General Seyyed Abdul Rahim Mousavi, Commander-in-Chief of the Army, and Brigadier General Kiomars Heydari, Commander-in-Chief of the Army, accompanied the Chief of General Staff of the Armed Forces on this visit.
