Monday, 21 February 2022 (YJC)_ Before leaving for Qatar, the President said: "The visit to Qatar is a step towards activating relations with the countries of the region, especially the countries of the Persian Gulf."
The President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Seyed Ebrahim Raeisi, explained the details of the trip this Monday morning before leaving for Qatar:
The trip to Qatar will take place at the invitation of the Emir of this country, Mr. Tamim bin Hamad, and this trip will pursue two goals.
He added:
During this trip, we intend to improve Iran's bilateral relations with Qatar, a friendly country, brother and neighbor, and also to participate in the forum of gas producing and exporting countries that is being held in Qatar.
Referring to neighborhood diplomacy, the president said:
We consider this trip as a step towards activating neighborhood diplomacy, especially with the countries bordering the Persian Gulf, and using the capacities of these countries to develop political and economic relations.
Referring to the joint gas field of Iran and Qatar, he stated:
Among the activities that we can negotiate and take steps on during this trip are communications in the fields of economics and energy, which are very significant.
Referring to cooperation with gas producing and exporting countries, Raeisi stressed:
This assembly was initiated by the Islamic Republic. We are one of the founders of this forum and we are one of the important exporters and producers of gas.
He stated:
Our cooperation in this forum and the negotiations that are taking place in this area can be a step towards cooperation with various countries, including the countries of the Persian Gulf.
Raeisi added:
We hope to have meetings with the countries participating in the Assembly of Gas Producers and Exporters during this trip, which is both a bilateral meeting and a participation in the General Assembly.
The President said:
We hope that this trip will have positive and effective effects in order to promote political, economic and trade relations between the countries of the region, especially the countries of the Persian Gulf.
