Sunday, 20 February 2022 (YJC)_ Emphasizing the need to reach an agreement in the Vienna talks as long as the opportunity remains, the French president said Iran should seize the opportunity and make political decisions that make it possible to maintain the Vienna agreement.
French President Emmanuel Macron has argued that an agreement should be reached in the Vienna talks as long as there is an opportunity.
The Elysee Palace issued a statement quoting Macron in a telephone conversation with Ayatollah Seyyed Ibrahim Raeisi, President of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
The statement said:
In contact with his Iranian counterpart, the French president stressed the need to reach a nuclear agreement as long as there is enough time.
According to the Al-Jazeera website, Macron told the president that a solution that would respect the interests of all parties and prevent a serious nuclear crisis was possible.
According to Elysee, he added:
Iran must seize the opportunity and make political decisions that make it possible to maintain the Vienna Agreement.
Raeisi also stated that the Iranian delegation has repeatedly stated that it welcomes initiatives that guarantee and protect the rights of the Iranian people, adding:
Political pressures or claims have been made in order to maintain leverage over the Iranian people and undermine the prospect of reaching an agreement.
