Thursday, 17 February 2022 (YJC)_ The Israeli prime minister praised Canberra shortly after Australia called Hamas a "terrorist."
Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett welcomed the Australian Prime Minister's action in recognizing terrorism as the whole of the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) and thanked the Australian Prime Minister.
While pressure from human rights groups in various countries to defend the rights of Palestinians against the crimes of the Zionist regime has made headlines, Australia's action against Hamas was welcomed by Tel Aviv.
The Australian Interior Minister announced on Thursday (today) the decision of the Australian government to recognize Hamas as a whole. Canberra had previously called Hamas' military wing a terrorist organization.
The Australian government also threatened to crack down on them if they could be financed or provided with other aid to Hamas, and could face up to 25 years in prison.
Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett praised the Israeli move in a Twitter message shortly after the news broke, thanking the prime minister.
Bennett wrote:
I welcome Australia's decision to recognize the whole of Hamas as a terrorist organization. I thank my friend, Scott Morrison, the Prime Minister of Australia, for taking action after we talked about this important issue. This is another important step in the global fight against terrorism.
