Wednesday, 16 February 2022 (YJC)_ The UN Special Representative for Yemen told the Security Council that it was pursuing a "comprehensive political solution to the crisis" plan to end the conflict.
Hans Grundberg, the UN special envoy for Yemen, announced on Tuesday that he was working to pursue a "comprehensive political solution to the crisis" between those involved in the Yemeni war.
According to the Anatolian News Agency, the plan was raised during a speech by the UN Special Representative for Yemen during his meeting with the Security Council; The meeting was held at the international headquarters of the international organization in New York.
"Groundberg said in his speech:
It is possible to end the war, and I am currently developing activities in this regard; I also have a plan for a comprehensive political solution to this crisis.
He continued:
In this project, we worked on creating a multilateral process in which the interests of the parties involved in the crisis are considered in a broader context [nationally and for the whole of Yemen].
The UN special envoy for Yemen added that under the plan, he would launch a series of talks aimed at presenting a proposed agenda to the parties involved, politicians and security-economic experts.
Groundberg also claimed that in his talks he would seek to achieve the immediate priorities of the Yemeni people for the long term and their vision for ending the conflict.
I believe this is an opportunity for all Yemeni parties as a possible peaceful solution to move forward.
