Sunday, 13 February 2022 (YJC)_ Reacting to the so-called "Freedom Caravan" protests in Canada, the former US president said that the protests modeled on it would soon spread throughout the United States.
Former United States President Donald Trump said in an interview with Fox News that truckers' protests in Canada could cause more serious unrest in the United States and warned that the United States was more likely to catch fire than its northern neighbor.
Truckers' protests in Canada, dubbed the "Freedom Caravan," began in late January in Ottawa. The movement rallied its supporters against the truckers' vaccination orders in Canada, and the Ambassador Bridge blocked a key US-Canadian border crossing. Right-wing groups have been behind the movement, and many staunch pro-Trump Republicans have spoken out in support.
According to Newsweek, Trump commented on the movement in an interview with Fox News on Saturday, adding that the United States may see a worse situation, adding:
Freedom convoys are now planning to launch related demonstrations in the United States.
Trump added:
I see that they have Trump signs everywhere and I am proud of that. But this is what is happening, you were able to put pressure on the people so far and our country is ready to ignite, do not deceive yourself. At present, many people from our country have reached that stage. When you look at what is happening in Canada, I think our country is far more ready to ignite than Canada.
