Saturday, 12 February 2022 (YJC)_ Iranian Ambassador to Russia said the country need a guarantee that sanctions will not return.
Iranian Ambassador to Russia Kazem Jalali said Iran seeks a guarantee that sanctions will not return even if the US administration change.
“When the US government changed, they violated their obligations under the JCPOA, that is our poor experience with the Western approach to the JCPOA. That’s why Iranian have a right to know about future guarantees so that sanctions will not be imposed again,” Kazem Jalali said.
“Sanctions were essentially a form of oppression against the Iranians, and that’s the reason why such guarantees are musts,” he added.
Prior to this, in a phone interview with his Chinese counterpart, Wang Yi, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian called for a serious and effective decision from western countries and said “Removing all sanctions is the only way that makes it possible.”
The 8th round of JCPOA talks kicked off on Dec. 27 in the Austrian capital of Vienna and it still continues.
