The UN official called on countries to work together to confront the terrorist group ISIS. He called on UN member states to maintain their gains in the face of the terrorist group's threats to prevent its spread.
The director general of the Office of the Secretary-General for Counter-Terrorism warned at a Security Council meeting that the ISIS terrorist group is known for its ability to reorganize and even intensify its activities after major defeats.
He added:
Military action against terrorism may be necessary, but comprehensive action with a strong focus on prevention is needed to address the dynamics that make terrorism attractive.
