Thursday, 10 February 2022 (YJC)_ After meeting with his French counterpart, the Russian president stressed the need to continue diplomatic efforts to preserve the Iran nuclear deal and considered it necessary.
After meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron in Moscow yesterday, Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that diplomatic efforts to revive the JCPOA should continue.
According to the Russian news agency Tass, he said about his conversation with Macron about Iran:
We discussed the status of the Iran nuclear deal and the revival of the JCPOA, which was adopted in 2015 and ratified by UN Security Council Resolution 2231.
The Russian President further stressed the need to continue diplomatic efforts to maintain the JCPOA and said:
We share the view that continuing diplomatic efforts and encouraging compromise solutions in the interests of preserving this great document is essential. We agreed that our positions on this issue are very close or, as the diplomats say, consistent.
