Tuesday, 8 February 2022 (YJC)_ Russia's envoy to Vienna-based international organizations says Moscow understands Iran's demands in the sanctions talks.

Ulyanov: We understand Iran's demands in the Vienna talksIn a detailed interview with the Commersant newspaper, Mikhail Ulyanov, Russia's representative to international organizations based in Vienna, described the process of lifting the sanctions.

In part of this interview, he reminded that the United States has withdrawn from the JCPOA and stated that Russia understands Iran's demands in the Vienna talks. He said:
In general, we are sympathetic to Iran's demands. In this case, Iran is the injured party. Iran did not withdraw from the JCPOA and did not deviate from its obligations at its own request, but its actions in response to the policy of maximum pressure from the United States. So, I repeat. We have a very high understanding of Iran's demands.

In another part of the interview, Ulyanov addressed the issue of sanctions lifting talks in Vienna, stating that several fundamental issues remain in the talks that need to be resolved. "How much time is left until the agreement is reached," he said in response to a reporter's question.
The experience of these negotiations has shown that it is better to refrain from such assessments or from providing specific dates. We still need to address some issues, some of which are relatively fundamental.
