The Iraqi Air Defense Command, affiliated with the Iraqi Ministry of Defense, announced on Sunday the arrival of advanced air defense systems this year.
"On the sidelines of the commemoration of the 29th anniversary of the founding of the air defense," Ma'an al-Saadi, "the country's air defense commander, said:
The Air Defense Command is equipped with reconnaissance (radar) and processing systems, including missiles and artillery; Systems that make it possible to control the country's airspace.
Al-Saadi added:
Air defense needs more support and development to be equipped with air defense systems in order to keep pace with world developments; Because any country that has stronger air defense control and weapons will have more control over its airspace and support its sovereignty.
"Iraq's air defense systems have improved over the last two years," he said.
The purpose of concluding agreements in this regard by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, the Minister of Defense and the Chief of Staff of the Army is to support the Air Force and increase their combat power.
The commander of the Iraqi Air Defense acknowledged:
We hope that modern advanced systems will be added to our existing equipment this year; To increase combat defense capabilities and airspace protection.
Earlier, the Office of the Commander-in-Chief of the Iraqi Armed Forces announced that in order to maximize the capabilities of the Air Force, it had imported three types of advanced radar and a number of multi-role aircraft, including fighter jets.
