The Lebanese Muslim Ulema Association stressed that the negotiations between Lebanon and the International Monetary Fund should be in line with the principles of sovereignty and independence of the country, and said that no dictates should be accepted from this institution that harm the sovereignty of the country.
According to Al-Ahd, the statement of the gathering of Lebanese Muslim scholars reads:
The Lebanese authorities must consider the proposals made by the International Monetary Fund, and if their plans and decisions do not harm the sovereignty and independence of the country, it can be relied on to provide aid and loans to help resolve the Lebanese economic crisis. .
The Lebanese Muslim Ulema also called for the parliamentary elections to be held on time and not postponed for any reason, saying:
We are against foreign interference in the elections. This is an internal matter, especially as we reject the involvement of the US Ambassador to Lebanon, Dorty Xia.
It also called on political groups to announce their plans to inform voters so that they can decide who to elect.
