Sayyid Ammar al-Hakim, the leader of the Iraqi National Wisdom Movement, spoke at the shrine of the martyred Ayatollah "Sayyid Muhammad Baqir al-Hakim" in Najaf Ashraf, commemorating the anniversary of his martyrdom and the day of the Iraqi martyr.
He said at the beginning of his speech:
The martyr of the Altar and the beloved of Iraq were the leaders and the symbol of unity, solidarity and cooperation, and we will never back down from these deep-rooted principles. We are at the forefront of advocating for the political unity of the Kurds and the Sunnis, and we respect the social characteristics of all, but we want this unity to be the precondition for greater unity at the national level. The unity of the Sunni and Kurdish brothers should not be taken into account in the unity of the Shiites, but should be along the role of the largest Iraqi social spectrum.
Al-Hakim addressed political parties and Sunnis in Iraq said:
We ask them to work together today to save the country from the clutches of sedition and division and to move towards security, stability and prosperity, as we did before, and not to send annoying false messages to their partners in the largest social spectrum of the country.
In another part of his speech, he spoke about the self-sufficiency of the Iraqi military forces and said:
Today, our security and military capabilities have reached a point where we can stand on our own two feet and not need foreign troops. All we want is a real will to activate the existing elements of power to build a complete, professional, and infiltrated military apparatus. The future government must make serious efforts to establish this apparatus and use the diversity of military units, including the army and the counter-terrorism apparatus, and the popular mobilization and the peshmerga, to establish an integrated and comprehensive national military doctrine.
