Thursday, 3 February 2022 (YJC)_ An informed Iraqi security source announced the sending of heavy military equipment and weapons to al-Hashd al-Shabi forces stationed on the border with Syria in order to prevent any security gap.
A security source in Iraq's Anbar province announced today (Thursday, February 3rd) that heavy military equipment and various weapons had been sent to al-Hashd al-Shabi forces stationed on the border with Syria in the western part of the province.
In an interview with Al-Ma'loumeh news website, he stated:
Heavy military equipment and various weapons were handed over to al-Hashd al-Shabi forces stationed on the border with Syria west of Anbar at the same time as unprecedented security measures were taken at the border. The move is aimed at controlling the borders and thwarting any attempt to infiltrate from Syrian territory to the western regions to target military units.
The source, who did not want to be named, said the military equipment and weapons included tanks, armored vehicles, military vehicles and light and medium weapons. The delivery of this equipment is part of the plan of the security commanders to intensify security measures on the border with Syria in order to prevent any security gap.
According to the report, Iraqi security forces on the border with Syria are finally on high alert due to the recent situation, as hundreds of ISIS leaders and members escaped from al-Sanaa al-Hasakah prison a few days ago.
