Qais al-Khazali, secretary general of the Asaeb Ahl al-Haq movement in Iraq, reacted to and condemned last night's attack by Turkish fighter jets on northern Iraq in a Twitter post.
He wrote:
Amid the unfortunate governmental and political silence, a series of blatant violations of Iraqi sovereignty by the Turkish occupiers continue.
Al-Khazali added:
Since the establishment of its military bases in northern Iraq, the Turkish army has intensified its bombardment of civilians with the pretexts and justifications it has essentially created. For our part, we strongly condemn the bombing of refugee camps and the increase in their suffering, just as we attack our own people. And we emphasize that silence in the face of the continuation of this Turkish approach with this barbarism and disregard for the territory and nation of Iraq will not continue forever.
Secretary General Asaeb Ahl al-Haq warned:
The time will come when the Iraqi resistance fighters, as they taught the American occupiers, will teach the Turkish occupiers hard lessons and force them to leave the pure land of Iraq.
Iraqi media reported on Tuesday evening that at least eight people were killed and wounded in a Turkish fighter jet attack on Sinjar in northern Iraq.
