The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, congratulated the Chinese people on the Chinese New Year in a Twitter message this morning (Tuesday).
He wrote:
On the eve of the Chinese New Year and the Beijing Winter Olympics, I have the best wishes for the Chinese people and government.
He also wished the Chinese success in the winter and New Year games, adding:
With the beginning of the second 50 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries, the program of comprehensive cooperation is moving forward with double, better and more powerful efforts.
Amir Abdollahian recently traveled to Wushu, China, to meet with his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi. Simultaneously with this trip, the comprehensive cooperation program between Iran and China entered the implementation phase.
The Iran-China Comprehensive Cooperation Plan was signed on April 27, during Wang Yi's visit to Tehran, by him and former Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif.
Iran has also condemned the boycott of the Beijing Winter Olympics by the United States and some European countries, saying it is participating in the Winter Olympics at a high level.
