Sunday, 30 January 2022 (YJC)_ Russia's foreign ministry says reports in some Western media outlets about the situation in Ukraine and Moscow's claims that it intends to invade the country have become more absurd and have reached a boiling point or a level of insanity.
In recent weeks, the Western media has repeatedly reported on the possibility of a Russian invasion of Ukraine. Some Western countries have even expelled their diplomats from Ukraine due to the deteriorating situation in the southeast. The US State Department has also ordered the voluntary departure of some US diplomats and their families from Ukraine.
Moscow officials, meanwhile, have repeatedly denied reports of intent to invade Ukraine, stressing that the Russian side has no intention of attacking Ukraine.
Russia's foreign ministry said in a statement that reports in the Western media about the situation in Ukraine had become more absurd and that false excitement had reached a high level of insanity, the Novosti news agency reported.
The Russian Foreign Ministry thus interpreted a recent report by the Swiss SRF television network, which claimed:
The Russian side allegedly brought military equipment "thousands of kilometers beyond Siberia" to the Ukrainian border and deployed large military forces on the border with Ukraine.
The statement said:
Apparently (the authors of such articles), by making these controversial and noisy statements that frighten the Western audience, are in fact preparing the preparations for the Russian-Belarusian defense exercise entitled "United Determination 2022" in the minds of the audience. They show a military to attack Ukraine.
The Russian Foreign Ministry called the move by Swiss journalists unprofessional and called on the authors of the story to contact the Russian Defense Ministry for detailed information on the joint military exercise. The ministry noted at the end:
The false excitement of the Western media about Russian-Ukrainian relations has reached a boiling point, or rather, an extreme stage of insanity.
Opposition politicians in Ukraine also say Kiev officials are seeking to intimidate Ukrainian citizens by making statements about an "imminent Russian invasion." According to them, first of all, economic problems dictate the agenda of Ukrainian government officials, and accordingly, we see that they want to achieve certain goals by launching a war and inciting society. The first goal is to intimidate society so that social explosions do not occur. And in this regard we must note that there is no need to oppose the Ukrainian authorities, because Russian President Vladimir Putin does not intend to attack Ukraine.
