Some informed sources reported that the Lebanese government had prepared a response to Kuwait's proposal to improve relations with the Gulf states, but did not respond to their request for Hezbollah.
The sources said that the Lebanese government did not mention in its response that it had taken any steps to implement the UN resolution on disarming Hezbollah.
"Lebanon will never be a starting point for movements against Arab countries," Reuters reported, citing sources.
Al-Quds Al-Arabi newspaper also wrote that Lebanese Foreign Minister Abdullah Bouhabib will deliver a response to Kuwait's 12-point proposal at a meeting of Arab foreign ministers in Kuwait on Saturday.
During a visit to Beirut last week, Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Ahmed Nasser al-Muhammad al-Sabah presented a 10-point proposal to Lebanese officials to improve Beirut's relations with Arab countries.
One of the provisions of this proposal is to set a time frame for the implementation of UN Security Council resolutions, including Resolution 1559 of 2004 on the disarmament of resistance groups.
