Thursday, 27 January 2022 (YJC)_ The Moroccan foreign minister stressed that the security of the Arab countries along the Persian Gulf is part of the security of this African country.
Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Burita discussed the situation in Yemen and the recent attacks on Abu Dhabi in a virtual meeting with Nayef Fallah al-Hajraf, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council.
Burita said:
We condemn the attacks of the Houthis and their supporters on civilian and economic facilities in Saudi Arabia and the UAE.
He added that Morocco considers the stability and security of the Arab countries along the Persian Gulf as part of its security and stability, because the fate of the Maghreb and these countries are the same and they agree on different issues.
According to Rai Al-Youm, Al-Hijraf also stressed the GCC's firm position in support of Morocco, saying that "any solution to this regional conflict is possible only within the framework of Moroccan sovereignty and territorial integrity."
Morocco has long insisted on sovereignty over the Western Sahara, while the Polisario Front has called for a referendum to determine the region's fate, which Algeria also supports.
