Taliban Foreign Minister Amir Khan Mottaqi called the Oslo summit in Norway an important achievement for Afghanistan.
"In talks with foreign delegates, we have concluded that the international community will not leave Afghanistan alone in terms of humanitarian assistance," Mottaki told the Associated Press.
The Taliban delegation, led by the caretaker Foreign Minister Amir Khan Mottaqi, began talks with representatives of the United States, France, Britain, Italy and Norway, as well as the European Union, on Saturday.
These talks are being mediated by Norway and behind closed doors.
After the Taliban returned to power in mid-August 2021 and after a significant cessation of foreign aid, Afghanistan has seen rising unemployment and poverty, and as the national currency depreciates, banks have set limits on deposit withdrawals.
The United Nations has warned that hunger threatens more than half of the country's population.
Representatives of Western countries are also expected to stress the importance of forming an inclusive Taliban government and respect for human rights.
