South Korea announced on Tuesday that North Korea had launched two cruise missiles into the Sea of Japan.
The Joint Chiefs of Staff of the South Korean Army are analyzing the characteristics and coordinates of these missiles, the Yonhap news agency reported on Tuesday.
This is North Korea's fifth missile test in two weeks.
In previous tests, the North Korean military had fired and tested several ballistic missiles and a supersonic missile from various launchers, including from a freight train.
The Japanese government, while condemning North Korea's missile tests, announced last week that it had set up a special crisis headquarters at the prime minister's office.
Although Pyongyang described its missile test as a step to increase defense and deterrence, Japanese Cabinet Secretary Hirokazu Matsuno said Tokyo saw North Korea's missile test as a threat to Japan, the region and the international community as a whole.
North Korean leader Kim Jong Un condemned Washington's hostile policies against Pyongyang last Thursday and promised at a meeting of the Labor Party's political bureau that North Korea would prepare for a long-term confrontation with the United States.
The North Korean leader also instructed officials to review the resumption of temporarily suspended activities. Pyongyang has imposed a voluntary suspension of nuclear test and intercontinental ballistic missiles since late 2017.
