Monday, 24 January 2022 (YJC)_ A Spanish newspaper says Morocco has postponed the opening of the Israeli embassy in Rabat due to differences between the two sides.

Morocco postpones opening of Israeli embassy in RabatA Spanish newspaper reported that Morocco had postponed the opening of the Israeli embassy due to Tel Aviv's stance on the desert dispute and the weakness of the Jewish lobby in Washington to defend Rabat's interests.

The Spanish newspaper Ecsaharaui reported that relations between Israel and Morocco had cooled, especially since King Mohammed VI of Morocco had recently received a visit from Zionist diplomat David Gourin, the Israeli ambassador to Rabat.

Observers believe that the reason for this difference in bilateral relations, which raises the concerns of the Zionist regime, is Morocco's anger over some fundamental issues, especially issues related to the desert.

The King of Morocco received a number of new ambassadors in Rabat last Monday, who presented their credentials as special ambassadors. The list included ambassadors from dozens of countries from the United Arab Emirates, Oman, Chile, Norway, Britain, Egypt, Jordan, Belgium, Senegal, India and Kazakhstan.

However, the King of Morocco, David Gourin, a Zionist diplomat who introduces himself as Israel's ambassador to Rabat and director of the Zionist regime's liaison office in Rabat, declined to attend. Rabat, meanwhile, agreed last December to open an Israeli embassy in Morocco.

"The king did not welcome the Zionist diplomat," Moroccan government spokesman Mustafa Beitas told a weekly news conference.
In relation to the issue of ambassadors, our country respects the Vienna Convention, which regulates all protocols in this field.

The Spanish newspaper added:
The response of the government spokesman to the rejection of the Zionist diplomat as ambassador adds to this dilemma, because he did not clarify anything or dispel any doubts.

The Spanish newspaper says:
Families familiar with Morocco-Israel relations, which resumed in December 2020 under the Ibrahim Agreement, expect relations between the two sides to cool further; Because Morocco wants Tel Aviv to clarify its position on the desert.
