The Ministry of Health of the Yemeni National Salvation Government and humanitarian organizations today (Saturday) held a press conference against a prisoner in Saada targeted by the Saudi coalition.
According to Al-Masira, the governor of Saada told a news conference that he blamed the United Nations and relevant organizations for the recent killings by the Saudi coalition in the prison.
He added:
The prisoners of this prison successfully fell victim to the silence of the United Nations and international organizations. We call on the Yemeni people to go to the fronts and respond to the killing of the aggressor coalition.
Representatives of Yemeni civil society organizations also told the conference that this is not the first crime of the Saudi coalition, but a continuation of the crimes of the last seven years.
They added that the Red Cross committee had visited the prison three days before the Saudi coalition committed the crime. The UN handed over the coordinates of the prison to the coalition so that it would not be targeted, but the Saudi coalition did not care.
Despite all this, Turki al-Maliki, the spokesman of the Saudi coalition, issued a statement this morning regarding the attack of Saudi fighters on Saada prison (northwestern Yemen) and denied the attack on this prison.
The representative of the Yemeni human rights organizations also said that the rescue operation in Saada temporary prison is still ongoing.
He added:
We want the practical actions of the United Nations, not the words of this organization. Such crimes must be stopped. We condemn the silence of the international community and the inability of the United Nations to establish an independent commission of inquiry into coalition crimes.
Yemeni Health Minister Taha al-Mutawakil also announced today that 82 people have been killed and 266 others injured in the attack on the prison so far, some of them in critical condition.
He further called for medical assistance from the government and brotherly countries and international organizations to treat the injured and transfer them.
Announcing medical readiness in all Yemeni provinces, the Minister of Health stated that the Yemeni medical sector has collapsed as a result of the Saudi coalition's seven-year attacks and is unable to reach this number of wounded.
Al-Mutawakil further called for the reopening of Sanaa Airport and called on the Red Cross and related organizations to condemn these heinous crimes.
