UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on Friday evening condemned airstrikes by a Saudi aggressor coalition on a prisoner in Yemen's Saada province.
Guterres said in a statement:
Another airstrike was recorded elsewhere in Yemen, killing and wounding civilians, including children.
He called for a speedy, active and transparent investigation into the incident with the aim of holding the perpetrators accountable.
The bombing of a prison in Saada province on Friday morning became one of the deadliest attacks by the Saudi coalition in Yemen, with more than 177 people killed and wounded so far, according to the latest figures. An International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) official told AFP that more than 100 people had been killed and injured in the attack.
The incessant bombardment of Sanaa, al-Hudaidah and Saada began on Tuesday, following a drone and missile strike by the Yemeni army and popular committees on Abu Dhabi, and Saudi fighter jets bomb the Yemeni capital and other parts of the country on a daily basis.
