Iraqi sources reported this morning (Friday) that elements of the ISIS terrorist organization attacked an Iraqi army base in the Al-Azim area of Diyala (eastern) province.
A security source told Al-Ahd that 11 Iraqi army personnel, including an officer, were killed in the attack.
The source said:
Elements of the ISIS terrorist organization this morning attacked a Iraqi army base between the villages of Al-Tala'a, Wam and Al-Karami with sniper rifles and semi-heavy weapons, killing 11 Iraqi soldiers, including a lieutenant officer.
According to the source, combat equipment was sent to the scene to support the army forces and neutralize the attacks, and the bodies of the martyrs were taken to Al-Khalis Hospital.
However, Al-Mayadin quoted its correspondent in Iraq as saying that the number of martyrs was six.
However, official Iraqi sources have not yet responded to the news and have not released official statistics.
