Wednesday, 19 January 2022 (YJC)_ The president said: During our visit to Russia, we will discuss bilateral relations, as well as political and economic issues, and in the field of energy, aerospace and the cooperation that has existed so far, but this cooperation must reach a much higher level.
The President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Seyed Ebrahim Raeisi, stated this Wednesday morning before leaving for Russia:
The visit is at the invitation of Russian President Vladimir Putin and will focus on promoting neighborhood and regional diplomacy.
He continued:
Undoubtedly, our relations with all our neighbors, especially Russia, which have political, economic and trade relations in various fields, can be a turning point for the promotion of all our relations with Russia.
The president said:
The Islamic Republic of Iran is an independent and powerful country and has influence in the region. Also, Russia is an important country with power and influence in the region. Economic relations and trade relations are effective.
Raeisi added:
Iran and Russia have an important role in many organizations in the region, including political and economic organizations, for example, in the Shanghai Group of Russia, and provided the ground for Iran's membership in this summit, which Iran became an official member of Shanghai. We will have good cooperation with all countries, especially with Russia.
He added:
In relation to the Eurasian Union, Russia plays a pivotal role. Our cooperation in this direction can be effective steps in promoting economic and trade issues. I think we have common interests with Russia, and these common interests and the interaction between us and Russia in the region will certainly provide security and will prevent unilateralism in the world.
The President stated:
Iran, with its capabilities, as well as Russia, with its many capabilities, can have a very effective interaction and cooperation in terms of regional and international conditions.
Raeisi added:
In this trip to bilateral relations as well as political and economic issues in the field of energy and in relation to aerospace issues and various other works and cooperation that has existed so far, but this cooperation that has existed is not satisfactory for the Russians. It is not for Iran that this amount of trade and economic work is not satisfactory for either country, but this issue should be raised to a much higher level.
The President emphasized:
We hope that this trip will be able to take an effective step towards the common interests between the two countries, which are certainly influential in the region and worldwide, God willing.
