Wednesday, 19 January 2022 (YJC)_ A US State Department official said Washington would provide more weapons to Ukraine if tensions between Moscow and Kiev escalated.
A senior US State Department official said on Tuesday that the United States would provide more defense weapons to Ukraine if tensions between Russia and Ukraine escalated.
The US official added:
As we know, last year, more than any other year since 2014, we provided security assistance to Ukraine, and I can assure you that the transfer of weapons to Ukraine will continue and more weapons are planned for the coming weeks.
He added:
If Russia invades Ukraine, we will provide more defense equipment to the Ukrainians.
In the wake of Western efforts, particularly by the United States and Britain, to escalate tensions between Russia and Ukraine, British Defense Secretary Ben Wallace announced on Monday the supply of anti-tank weapons to Ukraine.
The British defense secretary told parliament that London's decision to supply arms to Kiev was due to Russia's growing threatening behavior.
He said in this regard:
We have decided to provide Ukraine with anti-tank light weapons systems.
