Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida today (Monday) stressed the need to strengthen the country's defense and defense capabilities.
Speaking in the Japanese parliament, Kishida said his cabinet would strengthen Japan's defense capabilities around the southwestern islands near Taiwan.
"North Korea's dramatic increase in missile technology should not be neglected," he was quoted as saying by Reuters.
Strengthen the defense capabilities of the Japanese islands with the aim of better protecting the Nancy Archipelago, which stretches from Kyushu, the southernmost island of Japan's four main islands, to Taiwan.
The Japanese prime minister also said that Japan would stand firm against North Korean missile launches.
According to Reuters, Kishida explained:
Repeated launches of North Korean ballistic missiles are never acceptable, and the dramatic advances in missile technology should not be overlooked.
