Local media reported on North Korea's new missile test on Tuesday morning.
The South Korean Joint Chiefs of Staff said in a statement that North Korea fired an unspecified projectile from its east coast into the Sea of Japan.
This is North Korea's second missile test in five days, according to Yonhap News Agency.
The Japanese Coast Guard announced minutes later that the missile fired by North Korea was probably a ballistic missile.
On Thursday morning, North Korean state media reported that a supersonic missile had been successfully tested in its latest missile launch and hit its target accurately after flying 700 kilometers.
