The Saudi Ministry of Defense announced that the military exercises of the Saudi forces with the Egyptian and Jordanian forces started separately on Sunday (yesterday).
According to the Saudi Ministry of Defense, the "Al-Shatt Al-Aman-5" exercise of the Eastern Fleet in Al-Jubail began with the participation of Saudi and Jordanian naval units.
The Saudi news agency (WAS) quoted Brigadier General Ali bin Saeed Al-Shahri, commander of the participating forces, as saying that the aim of the exercise was to increase the level of readiness and combat capability of the participating units.
He added that the other purpose of the exercises is to strengthen Saudi-Jordanian military cooperation, especially in the field of exchange experiences in the field of combat.
Al-Shehri also said that the exercises were planned to be carried out professionally.
Colonel Khalid bin Mohammed al-Balawi, director of the exercise, also said the exercise was part of an integrated strategy to strengthen military co-operation between the Saudi and Jordanian armies.
Meanwhile, the Egyptian army announced in a statement that joint military exercises with Saudi Arabia have begun for several days.
