As an annual tradition, 46-year-old James Williams, along with other members of the neighborhood, was shooting in the backyard of his house to mark the beginning of the New Year when an unidentified police officer approached his house after hearing gunshots. The camera on his clothes shows the moment when the police officer shoots Williams from behind the fence in the backyard of his house.

Williams, the husband and father of six, was taken to hospital with gunshot wounds to the chest and was pronounced dead in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Following the incident, the Kenton Police Department in Ohio released a video of the assailant's uniform showing the details of the shooting. In the film, it is clear that the assailant shoots at Williams from a six-foot fence in the yard without any prior warning.
