Tehran, YJC. Quranic studies scholar believes praying for the ill has effects on their rehabilitation.
Mehrdad Veiskarami who holds a doctoral degree in Quranic
interpretation in interview with ISNA said "God Almighty has devised various
ways for the ill to get well, one of the most prominent of which is payers
which is able to remove life’s ups and downs.”
"In the first place, God has advised to pursue each job by
its means and through its specific ways, along which they can also use prayers.”
He explained that the first priority to deal with illnesses
is to use the established tools and methods and then to add prayers to one’s
efforts as a complement.
"Nonetheless illness is a bridge that leads to God. Someone whose
heart’s broken and then communicates with God, using names in their prayers
such as ‘O, Health-giving’ in their prayers will get better,” Veiskarami
stated.
He noted that observing the rites of praying,
full-heartedness, and regard for God can effect the way a prayer is granted.
"Prayers inculcate positive things onto the patient. Many patients
have gained their health through prayers,” he said.
