Sunday, 2 January 2022 (YJC)_ The Iranian ambassador to Syria said that Tehran strongly condemned the occupation of Syria by any country or force and that American forces should leave Syria.
In an interview with Al-Ahd website, the Iranian ambassador to Syria, Mehdi Sobhani, spoke about the horizons of economic relations between Damascus and Tehran, and stressed the importance of changing the current mentality about the security situation in Syria.
He said:
Economic and trade cooperation between Iran and Syria and Iran's participation in the reconstruction of Syria is important and the two countries are at a critical stage and are struggling with economic war and many sanctions, so we must focus on the economic and trade aspects.
Sobhani added that a number of exhibitions have been held in Syria in recent months, with about 120 Iranian companies participating. By participating in these exhibitions, Tehran pursues the following goals:
First; To show that Syria is safe and stable, and to provide the opportunity for businessmen to come to Syria and see with their own eyes that the situation in Syria is safe.
Second; Emphasis on creating opportunities for companies to identify the Syrian market need for investment
Third; Empowering Iranian companies to sign contracts with their Syrian counterparts and meet with officials of Iranian companies and Syrian officials in various commercial, economic and industrial fields.
The Iranian ambassador continued:
Iran strongly condemns the occupation of Syria by any country or force, whether in the Golan, northwestern or northeastern Syria.
Sobhani also said about the presence of American forces in Syria:
These forces will be forced to leave Syrian territory. We can not specify a time for this, but it will happen and it should happen.
He added:
During the Cold War, the great powers determined things, but today new powers are in control, and the United States is no longer able to determine the fate of the region, but new powers have emerged, and one of these powers is the axis of resistance. Today the field and the type of game has changed.
