Tehran, YJC. Senior statesman says the recent Obama letter to ayatollah Khamenei mostly concerned Iran's nuclear program.
Speaking in an interview with the Lebanese Al Mayadeen satellite
channel, Supreme National Security Council Secretary Ali Shamkhani in answer
to a question regarding the content of a recent letter sent by US President
Barack Obama to Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei said "Three or four topics
are discussed in that letter, but the letter is mostly about the nuclear issue.
A clear response was given to the letter.”
"The reality is that Iran has for many times asserted the
point in different forms and has proven it in action. We are not looking for
any bogus nuclear industry. We are not looking for a meager, vegetative nuclear
life, because we own its technology. Therefore, the letter was responded to in
a way which emphasizes the powerful status of Iran.”
He added "This was not the first letter. Obama has done much
correspondence, for some of which he has gotten responses and for others he hasn't.
This time a response was given.”
Shamkhani asserted that Iran has tried to clarify its stance
on the nuclear case by having numerous inspections of its nuclear facilities
done by the IAEA, announcing the goals it intends to reach via the nuclear program, and trying to
avoid situations that would strengthen accusations against the peaceful nature
of the country’s nuclear activities.
