Friday, 31 December 2021 (YJC)_ Russia's foreign minister has strongly criticized NATO military moves in Ukraine, stressing that the West has turned Ukraine into a military base against Russia.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has strongly criticized Western support for Ukraine's military ambitions.
In an interview with Sputnik, Lavrov said:
NATO members are systematically pushing Ukraine to become a military base against Russia, using its territory for military exercises. He added: "If they hold 7 exercises this year, according to the law approved by the Ukrainian parliament, they will hold 10 exercises in the coming years, and 10 exercises are planned."
CNN recently reported, citing US sources, that Washington was considering sending more equipment and military advisers to Ukraine. Informed sources say the aid package could include new Javelin anti-tank and anti-tank missiles, as well as several mortars.
The Russian Foreign Minister further stressed that the number of troops participating in the exercises will increase to 64,000 in 2022, which will double in 2021.
