It is the habit of Americans to dispose of their former allies or, rather, lap dogs. When the United States led an invasion force into Iraq to bring down the government of Saddam, on March 20, 2003, his downfall began. He had been in control of Iraq for more than 20 years at that time.
On December 13, 2003, U.S. soldiers found Saddam Hussein hiding in a six-to-eight-foot-deep hole, nine miles outside his hometown of Tikrit. He was executed on December 30, 2006.
