On the anniversary of the execution of ousted Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein, an Iraqi translator who was working with the US military at the time told Sputnik:
Reports that US forces arrested Saddam while hiding in an underground hole are fabricated.
He added:
After his arrest, the situation was created and dealt with in such a way that the US administration under Bush could leave [without harm] so that the coalition he formed against Iraq would not fail so that American authority would not be harmed by the invasion of Iraq.
He asserted that his confession had been obtained through torture and that his confession had been obtained through torture.
The translator added that the ousted Iraqi president could not enter the tunnel because the tunnel was too narrow and he was weak at the time.
Regarding the time of Saddam's arrest, he said:
I was wearing a bulletproof vest, I took it off and I was able to force myself into the hole, I could hardly get out. Yes, it was a hole, but information that the president was arrested there ... I tell you - he was in the room, he was arrested in the room.
According to the translator, this was a "normal room" that had no means of communication, only a wardrobe, two beds, a radio, a tape recorder, a small TV, some clothes and shoes.
