In an interview with CBS News on Sunday, the US vice president said that he considered the weak state of American democracy to be the biggest threat to the country.
Asked about his assessment of the biggest national security threat facing the United States, US Vice President Kamala Harris was quoted as saying by the National website.
To be honest, one of them is our democracy.
Harris said world leaders often ask him about voting rights in the United States in their meetings. The list also included former German Chancellor Angela Merkel, he said.
At his own request, Harris is leading opposition to President Joe Biden's administration against Republican attempts to limit voting rights. Earlier this year, Democrats in the Senate failed to pass a nationwide 50-50 vote to protect voting rights.
She said about this:
We will do whatever it takes to put pressure on Congress to address this issue. I believe that voting rights are one of the most important issues we face today as individuals and leaders.
Harris concluded.
I do not give up. The president will not give up either.
