According to Reuters, the assets of the Chicago-based Niagara Foundation were frozen due to links to Fethullah Gulen, a Turkish preacher based in the United States.

The newspaper wrote:
The assets of more than 400 people have been frozen over links to Gulen. This action was taken on the basis of reasonable grounds for committing acts covered by the articles "crime of financing terrorism" and "prohibited actions of financing or collecting funds".

According to Reuters, "The decision also frozen the assets of more than 200 people accused of links to the illegal Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) and ISIS militant groups."

Since the summer of 2016, nearly 80,000 military and civilian personnel of various ranks have been arrested in Turkey. 150,000 government employees, army, police, etc. have also been fired.
